Where to Buy Second Hand Designer Jeans

Designer jeans are usually very high quality and are therefore designed to last season after season. There are two main types of buyer of designer jeans, the first buy a pair of denim jeans they like and wear them practically all the time, whether they are in trend or not. They tend to keep jeans until they wear out and then throw them away. The second type of jeans buyer will buy a pair of designer jeans every season, following the current trends. They then only wear them for that particular season before moving onto whatever trend is next. The eco-conscious of these buyers will then either sell or give away their old designer jeans. So if you're looking to buy a pair of jeans and want a designer label but can't afford to buy them new, look for a second hand pair of jeans.

There are a number of different places you can look to buy a second hand pair of jeans, among them are charity shops and auction websites.

Thrift Stores or Charity Shops
Charity shops and thrift stores make money by selling items that have been donated. So those wishing to discard their designer jeans at the end of the season may well donate them to one of these stores. The pricing of clothing varies between stores but generally a pair of jeans will cost no more than £10 - that could be as little as a tenth of what you would pay for a brand new pair of jeans.

When looking for a pair of jeans in a thrift store or charity shop, the clothes generally tend to be laid out by size and not by style so look for the jeans rail and then for your waist size on the hanger. Check the label inside the jeans to confirm the brand and the size of the jeans, then check the ticket to see how much the store is selling them at. As with any other store, try the jeans on before you buy to ensure that they will fit. Unfortunately if they do not fit, the store are extremely unlikely to have the same jeans in another size.

Auction Sites
The rise of auction sites in the late 1990s has provided another platform for buying and selling second hand items, including denim jeans. These types of website usually have a search facility so you can enter a search work such as 'jeans' and the size you are looking for. If you are looking for a specific brand of designer jeans, enter the brand in the search box too.

You will be presented with a list of items matching your search requirements. For each pair of jeans, check the brand, the size and the entire description to ensure the jeans are not damaged in any way. There is not usually a set price on these types of websites and you have to submit a 'bid'. Enter the maximum price you are willing to buy the jeans for and then wait for the auction to end. If you were the highest bidder, you will need to pay for the jeans and then wait for them to be posted to you. The disadvantage of buying jeans in this way is that you are unable to try them on before you buy and if they do not fit when they arrive, you are unlikely to be able to return them for a refund.

The beauty of buying second hand designer jeans, is that most people won't know they are second hand and will assume you have paid full retail price for them.
