Totally Trashing Your Own Jeans Can Make You Look Hot!

Although there are some that would say that they age gracefully or they get better with age, when it comes to fashion it just doesn't always work that way. A lot of people that are stuck in the past decades still bring their eyesore fashion senses into the present day to disastrous effect. Others just don't know how to dress and wear horribly matching sneakers with their neckties to casual parties. Are you tired of being the fashion industry's laughing stock? Then read these amazing tips to update your fashion to new heights!

The first step you can try involves your old jeans. OK so your old and trusty jeans have been stained by 4 kinds of urban mud, has been taken to fishing trips and have probably skidded down the Grand Canyon a few times. It's faded, old and totally demolished. What can you do to give something that beat up a makeover? Trash it even more! Ripped jeans are a completely rebellious fashion statement and can turn you from an anonymous slacker to the next big thing in rock and roll! For guys, they give an amazingly rugged and rough kind of sexy and for girls they make them look like absolute rebels. You won't find any mamas boys or girls here!

How do you do this though? First you'll need to soften up the fabric using a cheese grater or very rough sandpaper. And what you do next is to take a knife and shred the pants in a perpendicular angle and use the tip of the knife to rub the frayed area until the white string appears. Keep rubbing the edges until the hole becomes ever bigger and messier. Just repeat the process on several spots on your jeans for the desired effect!

So ripping your jeans isn't enough for you, is it? Find out more ways to update and upgrade your look by going to: http://lifehackery.com/2008/07/31/art-design-3

How to Wear Extreme Low Cut Jeans

Wearing extreme low rise jeans can be a major fashion statement. Whether or not it's a good one or a bad one is often up to you. Like any extreme trend, this is one that can go terribly wrong. To avoid some major fashion faux-pas, keep reading for tips and tricks on how to look attractive in low rise jeans.

Keep Your Underwear Well Hidden

When you wear a pair of white pants do you put on black panties? When you wear a pair of form-fitting dress pants, do you wear underpants that show pantie lines? No? Then why are you wearing high rise underwear with extreme low rise jeans? Flashing your panties is sloppy and rarely fashionable, so pair your low-rise jeans with a pair of underwear that's cut to match.

Get a Belt

The biggest fashion disaster to come out of low rise jeans is "butt cleavage." Essentially, every time you bend over or shift in your seat, the world is invited to look at the top of your bum and it's rarely attractive. Instead, invest in a cool belt that will not only look great, but help you keep your pants in check.

Downplay the Wrong Assets

A few years ago, the term "muffin top" became extremely popular. It's a reference to the excess fat that bulges over a woman's low rise pants that are too tight. The idea is that these forced love handles often resemble a muffin top. It's neither attractive or fashionable.

To avoid this problem, buy pants that fit properly and wear appropriate shirts. Too-tight pants will only pinch the skin more and accentuate the problem. Too-tight shirts will simply work to highlight it. If you can't avoid the "muffin top," opt for a looser, baby-doll style top.

Wear an Appropriate Shirt

If you're self-conscious about exposing your abdomen, then choose a shirt that's longer. Ideally, a shirt should go to your mid-hip level. To test it out, try the shirt on and then raise your arms up. If your belly is exposed, it's not the shirt for you.

However, some women want to expose their midsection - and while it can be a fashionable move, it can also be a disaster. Showing off a poorly toned and flabby belly to the world is never in style. Remember, just because you can make it visible, that doesn't mean you should.

Remember, extreme low rise jeans can be fashionable - when they're worn right. So, always wear an appropriate shirt for your body type, buy jeans that actually fit your body, invest in a belt and wear the right underwear.

Oprah's Favorite Things - Apple Bottom Jeans by Nelly

Every year, Oprah hosts a holiday segment called Oprah's Favorite Things on her famous talk show and if you, like hundreds of thousands of Americans out there, have some trouble figuring out what the best gifts for your family are, these recommendations are great! In the past, Oprah has recommended key lime pie, Apple iPods, the Neiman Marcus cookbook and a lot more, but one of her most popular suggestions has been Apple Bottoms jeans. Apple Bottoms jeans were quite popular before the recommendation, but afterwards, their success went through the roof. What made these jeans so successful in a market that is clogged with designer clothing?

Apple Bottoms jeans are designed by the hip-hop artist Nelly, and they have a unique appeal and very glamorous aesthetic. Nelly himself is personally involved in the design process and has been quoted as saying, "The clothes should fit a woman, not the woman fit the clothes," a sentiment which has become the best way to judge the clothes that are produced. The goal of the clothes in question is to make sure that they enhance rather than conceal the natural beauty of the women who wear them, a viewpoint that has been a great relief for many women who are tired of shopping for clothes that don't fit quite right.

There are plenty of things that distinguish Apple Bottoms jeans from its competitors, and one of them is cut and fit. Rather than being straight-legged or cut in a way to minimize the hips, Apple Bottom jeans are frequently clingy without being tight, something that many women, whether they are on their way to a club or to visit family, can appreciate. Moreover, they are made to be exceptionally sturdy, so if you give a loved one the jeans as a gift, you can ensure that they'll be able to enjoy it for a good long time.

These jeans are also quite versatile, and depending on what you feel like and what you pair it with, can be suitable for a dressy occasion or for just hanging around the house. They are made of 96% extra strong cotton denim with lycra forming the remaining 4%, so they tend to stay snug to the body without feeling constricting; many women comment on the perfect fit after just a small amount of time breaking them in, and you can beat the embroidered apple appliqué when it comes to cuteness and a sense of urban style!

One of the best things about Apple Bottoms Clothing is that it is a trendy venue for women of all sizes. More than just being a line of clothing for women who are bigger, it also takes a lot of time in order to design clothing for women who are more uniquely shaped than is common. They place a lot of importance on natural curves and unlike other brands, instead of hiding them, will celebrate them instead.

Wearing Jeans As Corsets

Once upon a time, all fashionable women wore corsets to define their figures and to allow them to wear the demanding dresses of their day. Corsets would cinch their waists, flatten their tummies and smooth the way for their ultra feminine dresses the natural female form would otherwise find hard to look good in. Basically, corsets give you an hourglass figure.

Boned corsets were worn by ladies in the past to make them look more slender. This corset would be laced tight by their helpers and often, young women, eager to attract the attention of the guy they fancy may request that the corset be laced extremely tight to make their waists exceedingly tiny. The side effect is that these ladies may even faint later, from lack of air. But that's ok. In those days, fainting was considered dainty and could well attract the attention of a handsome suitor.

Thankfully, corsets are no longer compulsory in order for a woman to stay fashionable. Wearing corsets these days is the exception, rather than the norm.

While corsets are restrictive and considered the epitome of femininity, jeans have their origin in rugged masculinity.

During the gold rush in America, the early pioneers needed tough clothing to withstand their rugged lifestyle. Pants that did not tear easily. Enter the denim jean which is so hardy, is became the uniform of the rugged cowboy and the tough guys in the working class.

So what do ultra-feminine corsets and totally rugged jeans have in common?

Tough fabric that holds you in. Women who wear the smallest pair of high waist jeans they can slip into are onto something. These jeans act like a corset in that they hold your tummy and flabby bits in. They even make your legs look slimmer.

Although low-rise jeans were hot last in past seasons, it isn't a good idea to wear them smaller than your real size. They are cut low and if they are tight, the flesh above the waistline will bulge out, which means, most of your belly would stick out and look even bigger than ever. Think of it as the muffin-effect. Anything above the waistline overflows.

For the corset effect, jeans with the highest waist you can find, which adequately cover your fattest parts are your best bet. The tummy should be completely beneath the waistband. In a sense it can be even more flattering than a corset as it slims your legs as well. Just make sure that unless your legs are thin, the bottoms of the jeans flare out, or at least do not grip onto your flesh tightly as anything beyond the jeans, if squeezed, will have your flesh bulging out.

So if you want to look slimmer, but not appear like you are trying too hard, forget about corsets. Wear tight-fitting high waist jeans instead.

Nice Butt! Our Guide to Jeans Pocket Placement

You know the drill, take a stack of the cutest jeans into the fitting room, gingerly pull one on, and turn to the mirror for a quick butt check. They feel great and they mold to your every curve but they make your butt look….well, not exactly fabulous. Disappointment settles in. Do you start the whole process all over again or do you buy these jeans anyway and hope no one will notice?

Although great fit is essential, it’s no guarantee of a fabulous rear view. As enticing as those back pockets looked on the rack, whether they’ll enhance your butt depends on the shape of the back yoke, the pocket size, and the pocket placement.

There are two simple rules to follow for the best rear view:

1. Keep pockets in proportion to your size as well as to the style of the jean.

2. Look for angles, they will flatter your shape and enhance your curves.

Because placement varies so much between high rise and low rise jeans, there are guidelines for each. Every brand has a pocket personality, once you find the one that matches your needs, you won’t go wrong.

For high rise jeans:

• An angled back yoke will give a rounder look to your seat and accentuate a smaller waist.

• Look for pockets that are set at a slight inward angle, they will give you a shapely look and add the illusion of lift to your butt.

• Pockets should be fairly centered on the fullest part of your cheeks to maintain good style proportions.

• Stay away from pockets that are set too high, they will make your seat look longer and bigger.

• Look at the space between the bottom corners of the pockets, the wider the space, the wider your seat will look.

For low rise jeans:

• A bit of an inward angle on the pocket setting is great for enhancing curves.

• Pockets set straight across, combined with a straight back yoke, will give you a “square pants” look that you can do without.

• Don’t let low pockets get you down. If they end below your seat on the back of your thigh, your jean will feel uncomfortable and look sloppy.

Designer Jeans - Shop Right, Buy Happy

For reasons that escape this writer, young women still wear low-rise jeans. Rather than flatter and show off their figure, they choose to hide themselves in baggy, ill-fitting denim. This just in: muffin-tops and saggy butts look sloppy and thoughtless, no matter whose designer-label adorns the jeans.

Fortunately, older women have avoided the low-rise style, for the most part. Many 40-something women know that the right clothing presents them in the best light, and they like the feeling of looking good. They also know the value of sticking to the basics when it comes time to fit the wardrobe into the budget.

For women in their forties, a good strategy combines the latest popular designs with the classics that fit their bodies the best. That is where jeans can really come to the rescue. A great pair of jeans can work in many social situations, and can brighten the day regardless of the mood in the morning. When choosing your new designer jeans, look for the ones with some stretchy material incorporated into the blend. Designers know that a bit of stretch helps their jeans fit perfectly each and every time.

Designers also know that shoppers have different body types, so they provide different styles. Many women look fabulous in jeans with a waist band that lies at or slightly beneath the navel. This waist line elongates the legs for a pleasing balance with the torso. Straight or slightly flared pant legs complete the silhouette. Be very careful when considering tapered legs.

Let's look two other designer styles and the things to keep in mind when trying on these styles of jeans.

Capri pants, also called pedal pushers or clam diggers, usually end somewhere between the knee and the ankle. First of all, they make the wearer look shorter and the hips look larger. They also make the legs look shorter and the ankles look thicker. If Capri pants still seem like the way to go, choose ones that are dark in color, plain rather than printed, end just below the knee, and have tapered legs (more fitted at the bottom). Wear them with sandals and without cuffs.

The second style some women consider is high-rise, tapered fit designer jeans. These jeans fit snuggly around the waist with a leg that tapers in close to the ankle. Unfortunately for most shoppers, they make the hips look wider and larger and the tummy look bigger.

Plus size women have some other considerations to keep in mind. First of all do not assume that the only option is baggy jeans. Flattering styles that actually fit rather than hide this body type do exist, and trying to hide hips and legs behind baggy jeans only adds frumpiness and bigness. Talk to a professional, or perhaps consider having your jeans professionally tailored. It really is worth it. Avoid wearing black just because rumor has it that black is slimming. Black works fine for those already slim readers, not so much for the plus size figure. Skin tone and hair and eye color should influence the color clothing in the wardrobe. To look slimmer, concentrate on tailoring, cut, and style instead.

Have fun shopping for designer jeans, because why do it if it is not fun? And then have fun wearing the new purchases because of the care taken in choosing.

Easy Custom Jeans

Designing your own jeans is the best way to express your personality and sense of style. Have you ever tried on jeans that fit great, but aren't what you are looking for? Have you ever found the perfect style of jeans, but they don't fit well? Here is the answer; find the jeans that fit right and make them into the style that screams your personality. I have a sure way to make any jeans look the way you want, as long as they fit. Take your old jeans that you love and revive them with your current style. Its easy and it is actually fun!

To start customizing your own denim you only need one tool. It is called a Dremel, and it will change your life. Trust me, I am not affiliated with this company but it is an amazing tool for many different applications. It is a high speed, ,low torque drill that has many different attachments for grinding. These attachments are important because these let you customize how your jeans will look. You can use anything that is a substitute of this tool as well, but a Dremel is the industry standard. With this tool I will take you through the steps to make the most fashionable jeans that cannot be bought for any price. I have altered many pairs of jeans and I get asked all the time "Where did you get those jeans?"

First, find a brand that you love...that fits perfectly. It should be designer, but you can use any brand you like. The more custom a jean is, the more expensive. So we are going to target buying a designer jean like Seven or Diesel in their most basic form. This may cost $80-$120 but it is well worth it if you are fashion conscious. Gap jeans are still a great alternative. When you have a color and fit that you like you can begin the process of elevating you look.

Next, is your research. Look at jeans that you love and study what makes them fashionable. Where are they faded and ripped? This is important because you will be doing this yourself. Also keep in mind what you would do differently when you look at a pair of designer jeans. You will be in control of your exact look. Designers have to make a line to fit many different tastes. You are making clothes to fit your taste, which is unique.

Take the jeans that you love and make sure you launder them first. Laundering you clothes ensures that the fit is correct. Now you can take your Dremel and use a wide sandpaper attachment. Turn it on to about 2000-3000 rpms and start roughing up the front pockets edge. This is a great place to start because you always want a distressed look on the pockets, and it will give you a feel for how the tool distresses your denim. Be very light as you touch the fabric with the Dremel. You can always distress more, but you cannot undo what is done already. Then you are ready to distress the back pockets. Go around the edge of the back pockets to give them a worn feel. Make any distresses around the back that you may like.

It is important that you remember to be light with you pressure. A Dremel works because it spins so fast. Let the tool do the work. When you are pressing on an open area like the knees, go though until you see the horizontal threads. You can open up more at the knees, but most areas you still want coverage. Also remember to do the edges of the bottom of your jeans. This is very important because any distressed denim is first faded at the bottom of the leg unless it is cropped to a shorter length. The key is to have high impact areas distressed first and then to add the touches that you see fit. This is a great way to save money, have fun and to have clothing that is unique as your style.

Jeans At Work, And The Dress Code

Prior to the 1960's jeans were considered mostly as a work outfit worn by blue collar workers and people working around their house. Then somewhere around 1965 they became popular with teens as a very casual laid back statement. Then about 25 years ago jeans started to step outside the blue collar environment into corporate America.

Today, while jeans have not taken over corporate America, they are still very much worn at work. Deciding what to wear to work is usually governed by the dress code your company has. Some companies have strict dress codes, meaning no jeans, no sneakers etc. Other companies have what they call "business casual" attire, which may or may not include jeans. Still some companies require strict dress codes Monday through Thursday, and have what they call "casual Fridays." This may be considered "business casual" or jeans and sneaker casual (Yes, it can get a little confusing).

So what does the employer think about when setting the dress code? About 25 years ago, some employers started to adapt to the concept that a relaxed dress code would make a more relaxed atmosphere, and a more relaxed atmosphere would make more efficient workers. However some employers feel that a casual laid-back dresser might be too laid back and careless about their work. They feel dressing up will cause employees to take their job more seriously. Also, depending on the type of business, they feel that customers or clients may not take a casually dressed office as seriously as an office where everyone is dressed in business attire.

So what do we really want to wear to work? At first thought, most of us would say, "It would be really cool if we could wear jeans to work all the time. After all, I paid just as much for my jeans as I paid for that outfit I wore to work yesterday." Then again, it depends on what type of business it is and what position you hold. The CEO of the company would probably like to wear jeans to work but he or she knows that a jacket and tie somehow seem to command more attention and respect from other employees as well as from customers or clients.

But even if you are not the CEO you still may want to set your own personal dress code. For example: If the dress code at your office is casual, you might want to show up occasionally in more business like attire. Doing this may show the employer that while you appreciate the relaxed dress code, you do take your job seriously, and its not to much trouble to put a little more effort into your appearance.

Let's face it, it is very unlikely that corporate America will ever hang up the suit and tie for good. However, jeans have taken their seat in the workplace and it doesn't look like they're going to give up that seat any time soon.

True Religion Brand Jeans - Buy the Real Thing Online Without Getting Ripped Off

Sometimes counterfeit designer jeans are made so poorly that it's hard to believe that anyone in their right mind would believe that they were real. Other times, however, it is not quite so easy. True Religion brand jeans are among the most sought after in the world, and therefore they're also among the most counterfeited. Before you commit to making a purchase online, there are a few things you should consider.

Like they say, if it sounds too good to be true, it probably is. If you find a seemingly generous site offering True Religion Joey jeans at a bargain price of $39.99 new, it's pretty safe to say that they're fake, or at the very least they're defective. If you feel the slightest bit suspicious about a deal that any given site is offering, you should probably seek your jeans elsewhere.

Just because the jeans appear authentic in the images does not necessarily mean that they are. First of all, it can be very difficult to tell the better fakes from the real thing when they're being viewed online. Secondly, even if the site does display photos of authentic True Religion jeans, that certainly doesn't mean that the ones that show up in the mail will be the same. Knock-off sites are big fans of the old bait and switch method.

Find out where the jeans are coming from. If the company is located in some remote part of the world, it may be a red flag. Businesses being operated within the United States are much more likely to be selling the real thing, since they're regulated by laws that international businesses may be exempt from. If the website you're looking at does not prominently display where their business is located, try looking up information about the domain on Who.is, which will give you information about the registrant of the website.

Search the internet! There is no better way to find out whether or not a site is selling authentic True Religion brand jeans than by finding out what other people are saying about it. Any site that is known to sell phony products will likely have plenty of negative reviews littered all over the internet.

I've heard a lot of fuss lately about eBay in regards to whether or not the True Religion jeans sold on there are authentic. In many cases, yes, they are. Then again, in many other cases, no, they're not. It really just varies from seller to seller. All of the other precautions still apply. If the jeans you're checking out come with an oddly low starting bid, it may be an indication that they are not authentic. Ebay's feedback system is a great way to get a better idea of whether or not you can trust any particular seller. Viewing the seller's feedback will allow you to see exactly what their past customers have had to say about them.

The most important rule to follow is to trust your instincts. Don't buy True Religion jeans from a site you're not 100% comfortable with.

In order to guarantee that the jeans you buy are authentic, you could always purchase them directly from the True Religion website.
