Finding The Ultimate Pair Of Men's Jeans

Jeans are the most versatile item in your wardrobe. They can be dressed up or dressed down, and are an essential part of your clothing collection. We all wear them and we are all looking for that perfect denim fit. With so many different fits and finishes available, the task can seem daunting, but finding that perfect pair is easier than you think when you follow a few simple rules.

You need to think about where and when you will be wearing your new jeans. Are they for lounging around in at home, or will you be wearing them out to bars, clubs and nights out? The places you intend to wear your new jeans will affect the kind of jeans you need to buy.

If your workplace allows you to wear denim to work, then you might want to check out more conservative styles and fits, darker shades, without any flashy embellishments. If you are looking for jeans for a night out, then your options are more varied and you can look for bling finishes and detailing.

Jeans come in all colours and finishes now, from classic denim to distressed finishes, faded blacks to day-glo neons. Obviously the shade you go for depends on where you are going to wear them, but as a general rule classic denim blue can be worn anywhere, stonewash is great for a casual look, and the trendiest colour right now is faded black, verging on grey.

The denim trend right now is for simple straight cut jeans. These can be worn with anything and flatter all shape, provided they are not too high-waisted. Another popular cut right now is the carrot cut, where the jeans are slightly wider across the thighs and taper in a little at the bottom.

Baggy jeans may still be popular with skater kids, but if you are looking for a looser fit go for a compromise - the relaxed fit jean. Some stores call them relaxed fit, some stores call them loose fit. Either way these are basic straight leg jeans that sit a little lower on the hips and have are slightly baggier than regular straight leg jeans.

You might want to opt for a boot cut jean to wear with any ankle boots or cowboy boots that you have in your wardrobe. These jeans are slightly wider at the bottom - not a full-on flare cut, just slightly wider, and are great for wearing over boots as they will cover your footwear without being too tight around the ankle and bunching at the bottom.

When shopping for jeans, try a mix of styles to see what suits you best. Try on your jeans with the shoes or trainers and belt that you wear most often. Look for jeans that are not too tight across the crotch, legs and waist. Check that they look good from behind - the higher the back pockets are placed, the better.

Our guide to finding the perfect pair of jeans was written by Josef Kazan, an experienced men's stylist. They recommend checking the New Look website for great value men's jeans that incorporate the latest denim trends for 2010.

Jeans: A Fashion Staple For Over 50 Years

Question: what one item of clothing can be worn on a Saturday watching footie with the boys, to a first date with a pretty girl and to a Sunday lunch with the new girlfriend’s parents, pending the first date of course? The answer: men's jeans.

Jeans have been a fashion staple for over 50 years now. Almost everyone on the planet, at least in the developed world, owns a pair of jeans. They can be dressed up with a shirt and court shoes when the occasion requires, but look just as good with a pair of old trainers and a scruffy looking hoodie. There aren’t many other items of clothing that can make this claim to fame.

Jeans started as worker wear; farmers and low-skilled labourers first wore them back in the 1930s. They were cheap and hard wearing and so cottoned on quickly. But then, the US Navy made them their own in the 1940s and 50s, but it wasn’t until the eternally cool James Dean donned a pair in Rebel Without A Cause that they wandered into mainstream fashion.

Once they nonchalantly moved into the fashion realm, all kinds of rebellious groups took them as their own. First were the high school kids of America, pairing their football jackets with straight-leg turn-ups.

Then came the hippies of the 1960s who opted for high-waisted flares, known as bell-bottom men’s jeans. This symbolised freedom and equality, with was the basis for the flower-power movement.

Then came disco and looser fitting flares. The point of this was to allow movement to dance to groove.

Next came the punks of the 1980s who took tight fitting, slim fit men’s jeans to a whole new level. They paired their drainpipe jeans with DM boots, leather jackets and spiky hair.

Then in the 1990s hip-hop took over denim. High waisted, loose fitting men’s jeans were paired with over-sized t-shirts and baseball caps as well as high-top trainers, largely thanks to the NBA player Michael Jordan.

So by the time we got to the 2000s, what did we do? Reinvent all the old styles and add modern twists. We now have bootcut, straight, worker with loads of pockets and zips with a baggy feel, twisted and narrow at the ankles and slim fit, the most popular style of men’s jeans at the moment.

All this choice means men can find a shape to suit their own personal style. They can also find men’s jeans that are flattering. In fact, there is now so much choice between men’s jeans that it is sometimes hard to decide what style to go with nex

Where to Find Jeans, and How Brands Stack Up

Shopping online

Whenever you're shopping for jeans online, the best place to start is on the jeans company's website. In most cases, buying direct from the company is a little more expensive than buying through other online stores, but making note of the company's price gives you a good starting point for price comparison.

After that, start looking around at the sites of major department stores. For example, you can go to the sites of Nordstrom, Saks Fifth Avenue, Bloomingdale's, Macy's, and so on. You might be surprised by how many brands of fashion jeans some of these online stores carry. In fact, the websites usually have much broader selections than the actual stores.

Finally, you can also shop through the major marketplace websites. For example, on a site like Amazon you can find new jeans from most companies, but you can sometimes also get great deals from private sellers. And one of the best options is eBay, where you can usually find some good deals, but the choices are highly variable, which means that you may not be able to find the specific pair that you're looking for.

Fashion Jeans Brands

Every fashion jeans company has slightly different ways of putting their jeans together, which presents challenges when you're buying jeans made by a company you have no experience with. Here are some things to keep in mind for some of the most popular fashion jeans brands.

Citizens of Humanity Jeans: Citizens of Humanity jeans tend to be very true to one's natural size, especially the stretch varieties. For the non-stretch jeans, you may want to go up one size. Here are the main types of Citizens of Humanity jeans:

· Faye: Low-rise jeans with trouser legs and narrowing below the waist.

· Ingrid: Straight-legged jeans with flared cuffs.

· Kelly: Straight-legged low-rise jeans with bootcut cuffs.

Hudson Jeans: Hudson jeans typically run a little small, but it's not too significant, so you should be able to purchase them in your natural size. The Bootcut Hudsons are perfect for girls with more boyish figures, and the Wide Leg Hudsons accommodate a very large variety of body types.

J Brand Jeans: J brand jeans are typically very true to size, although they're known for being very snug, and they tend to stretch a little over time.

Joe's Jeans: Joe's jeans are known for enhancing the figures of curvier women. The Honey jeans are roomy around the thighs and rear; the Provocateur is for petite women; the Twiggy is for taller girls; and the Cigarette is straight and narrow.

Seven for All Mankind: One of the biggest advantages of Seven for All Mankind jeans is that most types are aged in the factory, which means they're probably not going to shrink at all. Here are some specific styles you might see:

· Boy cut: Boy cut jeans sit higher on the waist, are slightly loose around the thighs, and have boot-cut cuffs.

· Dojo: Dojo Seven jeans have a low waist and higher back. They fit straight on the hips and have flared cuffs.

· Flynt: Flynt Seven jeans are low on the waist, have contoured waist band, and have boot-cut cuffs.

True Religion Jeans: True religion jeans have a standard fit, but they're not for shrinking by about a half inc

Best Jeans For Curvy Women - Review of Levi's 528 and 529 Curvy Jeans

Have You Tried Levi's Curvy Jeans?

Levi Jeans might be one of the oldest, popular, and most recognized brand names in the business. One of the reasons why Levi's is an industry leader deals with the fact that you can literally find dozens of different styles and finishes in women's jeans. If you're a woman with a curvy body, you may already have your doubts as to whether Levis Jeans will fit.

You may have heard of Levi's line of Curvy Jeans. You may also be skeptical about whether these jeans really offer great fit to your hips and curves. There are two styles that you will want to look out for: 529 Women's Curvy Boot Cut Jean (available in sizes 4-16) and 528 Juniors Curvy Skinny Jean (sizes 1-13). These jeans are the answer for the need for fashion denim designed to fit women with the classic hourglass figure -- larger hips, thighs, and smaller waists. These jeans offer a contoured fit that completely eliminates the common problem of gapping at the waistband. While the gap at the waist problem can be remedied by a belt or custom tailoring, the Holy Grail jeans are those that offering flattering fit straight off of the rack.

What Do Customer Reviews Say about Levi's Curvy Jeans?

Extensive research on customer reviews from Amazon, Zappos, Sears, and other retailers reveals that the majority of women are thrilled with the fit of these curvy jeans. You will find plenty of glowing recommendations for the 528 and 529 jean. Lots of comments stating: "These are the best jeans I have ever owned" to "these jeans fit my body like a proverbial glove." There are a number of pros and cons noted across reviews, so let's review before you bite the bullet and buy these curvy jeans:

Pros:

- Stretch enables comfortable fit and allows jeans to hold their shape
- Versatile - looks great dressed up or dressed down
- No backside showing when sitting down or bending over
- Bootcut style balances out the width of large hips

Cons:

- Length of jeans may shrink in the wash - even when washed on cold
- First signs of wear may appear after a few months of consistent wear -- in front right below the belt loops
- Premium indigo color is not the same color as it appears online - slightly lighter
- Whiskering on premium indigo is more prominent than it appears on pictures online
- May be hard to find in local or department stores

These two styles are stretch jeans made with 1% spandex for a slim body-grazing fit. They are available in purchase in 3 inseam lengths - short (30"), average (34"), or long (34"). (If you're looking for jeans with more stretch or a larger variety of inseam lengths, especially for extra tall women, you may find a better choice with PZI Jeans).

Overall these curvy jeans consistently get 4 to 5 star ratings from satisfied customers. As a matter of fact, 85% of reviews on Zappos.com give these jeans a 5 out of 5 star rating! The fact that these jeans may be hard to find in department stores may be a deterrent for many women, but rest assured, that these jeans are available for purchase online. Distressed Jeans and Used Jeans - What's the Difference?

When you scour through the seemingly endless supply of websites a Google search yields raving about the latest popular designer jeans you will find one thing in common: their price. Designer jeans for whatever reason are going to cost you hundreds of dollars in the most popular department stores and high-end boutiques. There is one more common trait, it seems, having to do with the style of designer jeans. Holes, rips and tears, threads fraying on edges, all mutilated by a machine and labeled appropriately, according to fashionistas, as "distressed jeans". Ironically, people still pay the markup on designer jeans beat up with these unnatural wears. But designer brands wouldn't associate themselves with poor quality denim, and it appears that their quality jeans do hold up for years and years despite their "used" condition out of the box.

If style is what people are truly after, wouldn't it make sense to find a pair of naturally worn jeans, since this is the precise style designer brands try to mimic? After all, pre-owned jeans cost a fraction of the price of new jeans and we all know that jeans last a lifetime. In fact, denim to this day is the most durable pant material since Levi Strauss made jeans so famous with gold miners in the West. Could you picture the typical response after telling one of those hard-working miners that in the future, young rich kids would be buying torn and tattered jeans for 5 times the price of your average jeans?

You can never question fashion because it is a statement, so we won't talk about the reasons why distressed jeans have become so popular. Quite simply, distressed jeans are a hot commodity. Men and women alike can show off a little more skin with a tear here and a rip there. Celebrities started wearing ripped jeans and people caught on to their fashion trends. But who wants to pay celebrity sized prices on a pair of jeans? The truth is most of us are not celebrities and we don't make as much money as we want to. You may feel comfortable in that pricey pair of designer jeans, but just think about how comfortable you will be when your credit card bill arrives in the mail. We are already in a bind with the current state of the economy. Many people are trying out as many ways as they can save and scrape in a little more money just for some peace of mind. You can too.

If a new pair of jeans is what you are after, but don't want to pay as much, I would recommend a few places online. Craigslist. Underneath the "for sale" section you will find "clothing+acc". Within this category search for "jeans" and you will find a gold mine of savings. People are selling all sorts of jeans here in your hometown - used and new, all bargains. For example, just now searching I found a used pair of True Religion designer jeans, my size for $20 in excellent condition. You really couldn't beat that. eBay would be another great place to search for used jeans, but they also have new designer jeans for much lower than retail. The great thing about eBay is that you don't have to drive around town to locate your seller - eBay sellers ship to your doorstep. eBay also has a much larger selection of jeans to choose from, and you are most certainly going to be able to find your size. Lastly, I developed my own website (featured below) that is focused on the pre owned jeans niche and makes it really easy for people to find their sizes and their favorite brands, which are all used jeans you can buy right now on eBay. With these three recommended websites, you are on your way to take your style one step further while saving loads of money on jeans. You could also hop on the band wagon and start selling your used jeans on Craigslist and eBay, to effectively fund your future used jeans purchases.

I hope you will never have to buy another pair of expensive jeans again. Jeans are meant to be worn until they can't be worn any more. Jeans can last a lifetime. If you get tired of them, you can give them to charity, sell them on eBay or hand them down to a loved one. A pair of Levi's over 120 years old sold on eBay in 2005 to a Japanese collector for $60,000. I'm sure they could still be worn today. Start buying pre owned jeans from a reputable source, the person who bought them from the store, brought them home and wore them originally. That way you'll have a complete history if you really wanted it. The only thing you need to do to make jeans look new again is put them in the wash, because if they come ripped and torn on retail racks, your new pair of jeans may as well be in someone else's closet, or better yet being worn by someone else.

If You Hate Denim Those Tummy Tuck Jeans Are Still An Option

Many women choose to try tummy tuck jeans for shaping stubborn belly fat or a less than perfect rear view, wanting something less risky or costly than cosmetic surgery. The phrase refers to Not Your Daughters Jeans, a brand who made the first successful styles and claims to have given them the tummy tuck jean name. Use this article to find out more about the brand which claims to effortlessly contour the tummy and lift the behind.

This article gives you the materials the range is made in, the colours and the styles available. You can discover the full range within the brand, not just their denim jeans, which might work better in as core wardrobe items.

If you cannot always or in fact never wear jeans, its worth knowing the designs are also available in velveteen, corduroy and heathered twill. For jeans lovers, of course there is denim galore in regular, cashmere and lurex weaves. You could wear the non-denim fabrics quite easily to work, appointments or meetings and parent teacher events and you could also choose different colours.

Putting it simply, many of us would not be able to go to work wearing a pair of traditional blue jeans, and would feel ill at ease sitting in a challenging parent teacher interview in light blue denim. The brand also uses white, grey and black to make them more occasion friendly. There are of course many shades if you do choose denim such as classic indigo blue, that light blue, darker blue, black, pin stripe and an over dyed look. As well as moving away from causal jeans in the fabrics and colours, they also employ varied tailoring.

There are trouser slacks which lend an air of formality and can equally blend well into smart casual outfits. For jeans time, there are boot legs, wide legs and slim legs with a variety of optional extras. You can have the pockets embroidered, or adorned with rhinestones for extra sparkle. The approach is quite clever, in that its possible to choose a pair of classic indigo jeans, with a bunch of bling on it or equally a pair of elegant white trousers to go with classic heels.

All of their tummy tuck jeans and trousers have the same criss-crossed patented panels sewn into them which aim to contour the tummy and give the behind an uplift. Marketing constantly stresses while you should look slimmer and trimmer, you should never feel restricted or as though anything is digging in as you move about. Exploring the different materials, colours and styles can help you move away from the mindset where the panels sound good, but are only made in a jeans style which could not possibly work outside leisure wear.

How to Choose a Pair of Womens Jeans That Look Good and Feel ComfortableHow to Choose a Pair of Womens Jeans That Look Good and Feel Comfortable

Women come in a variety of shapes and sizes so a certain style of dress that looks good on someone who is tall and slim, may not necessarily look good on someone who is short and stocky. Finding a pair of jeans that look great and yet still feel comfortable can become quite a challenge but with a few tips, you should be well on your way to a style of jeans that suits you.

Short figured women should opt for jeans that make their legs appear longer. This means jeans that are higher in the waist but make sure that they still fall below your belly button. Jeans that come above your belly button will draw attention and cause irritation. Short women who are stocky should try to find jeans which are stretch denim since this will accommodate curves and hip sizes. Another tip for short women is to find jeans that have a longer inseam. Having a floor length hem on your jeans will make you appear taller than what you are. Just remember to wear shoes with somewhat of a heel when you wear floor length jeans.

Tall women shop for jeans with a hemline that is ankle length. Also, low rise jeans works well to give the legs a shorter appearance. If you are tall and slim, opting for jeans which are flared which can give the illusion of shape. Women who are without curves can also wear tapered jeans which are fitted at the ankle. Tapered jeans give the appearance of wider hips and curvy thighs. Finding the right pair of jeans which give you the appearance you aim for will make you feel more comfortable with your body style.

Women who are trying to hide a bulging belly should look into a jean style that rides higher up on the tummy, yet still below the belly button, in order to give the appearance of a flatter tummy. There are jeans that are specifically made for tummy control that are softer stretch denim for both appearance and comfort. This means you can wear your jeans comfortable, look great and not feel so uncomfortable with the size and shape of your body. Tummy control jeans are designed to make you look and feel slimmer.

If you are a woman who has a flat bottom, there are jeans designed to give you lift and support which adds shape and size to your bottom. The one thing that women should never do is wear big baggy jeans to try and hide a flat bottom. In fact, baggy jeans will make your bottom appear flatter and will also make you appear larger in waist size than what you really are around the waist, hips and thighs. Always make sure that your jeans fit comfortably and yet snug enough that you do not give off an appearance that is opposite of what you desire.

For women who are built with a bigger bottom, try to stick with low riding pockets and jeans that are without embellishments and adornments on the pockets. Any designs on the pockets will draw attention to that area of your body causing people to notice your bigger bottom. You want to avoid this by wearing plain pocketed jeans. Straight leg jeans work best for women with this problem due to the fact that they are not quite as tight fitting on the backside and therefore gives the appearance of a smaller bottom yet keeps the appearance of shape.

There is more to choosing the right pair of jeans than basing your shopping on body style. You want jeans that will look great and feel comfortable. In colder weather, try darker shades of denim such as black, or dark shades of blue. Darker shades help draw in heat adding to your comfort by warming up your legs on those cold winter days. Spring and Summer time calls for lighter shades such as pale blues, stone wash, white and even tan colored denims. Light colors help reflect heat away from you keeping you cooler so you can still enjoy wearing jeans in warmer weather.

Shopping for jeans that fit your style does not have to be a hassle. By following these tips, you will be able to enjoy the fashionable look that denim jeans has to offer. Now you can find a style that suits your body style and hides various flaws or adds shape and texture to your hips, thighs, bottom and calves. Whether you are trying to add length to your legs or hide it, there is a style of jeans out their that fits your needs, makes you look good and feel comfortable all in one.

How to Choose Jeans

Jeans of the same size cut and color can fit one and the same woman differently, because there are just no two equal pairs of jeans. Besides, one should never forget that after you've been wearing jeans for some time they become larger, that is why you should probably buy jeans a bit smaller in size.

When choosing your jeans remember they should not be too baggy or fit too close on the parts of your body you don't want to attract additional attention to. Orient yourself on the size of jeans, it is usually represented by a fraction of two numbers, the first one indicates waist size, the second one - length.

Bear in mind that each customized denim manufacturer is oriented on its own customers. That is why jeans manufactured by Rifle, Hugo Boss and Klaus Montana brands will be ideal for those who prefer classical models, Versace jeans are made for those who can boast having long slim legs, and Lee Chicago and Mustang Exotic-Erotic denim creations are worn by those who want to look sexy.

The length of jeans is written in inches between 28 and 38. 28-inched jeans will fit a person with a height of approximately 157 centimeters. 36-inched jeans are meant for those who have a height of 190 centimeters. Today it is fashionable to wear jeans having a boot-cut. And please don't buy jeans that are too long for you intending to shorten them sometime. If you cut your jeans, proportions are disturbed, denim is ruined and the whole esthetics is violated. So don't do it. In extremis you can always turn up the ends of your jeans.

You can check the stability of denim color using a match trick. Take a match, soak it in water and then put it through denim. If the match gets color, your jeans will dye while you are wearing them. However, colored match doesn't necessarily mean low quality of denim. High quality overdyed jeans can lose color as well. But this effect disappears after the first wash.

Jeans can help you to conceal imperfections of your figure and accentuate its advantages. Model range of fashionable jeans is so diverse that you can definitely find a pair that will be ideal for you. In order not to attract additional attention to disadvantages of your figure you should know general rules of jeans choice. Here are some tips that might be helpful to you.

Well-rounded thighs should not be covered by too close fit jeans. That is why stretch jeans are definitely not for you to wear. Banana jeans would probably be an ideal variant for your figure type. They are loose in the upper part and are becoming tighter at the bottom. Those who have voluptuous buttocks have to lift them and balance the proportions by wearing hipsters.

High women should prefer to wear extra long tailor made jeans with low waist. Trouser legs can be straight, turn or twisted. Banana jeans and jeans with a relaxed fit will suit such women as well. Light colors are recommended. However, be careful with skinny jeans and shortcut denim models. Orient yourself on the height size specified on the jeans label.

Women who are short of stature should wear jeans models which visually lengthen the legs. That is why straight cut models are recommended as well as high-waisted jeans. The general rule is figure fitting form of jeans, avoid wearing jeans with turned trouser legs and stretch jeans models, for they accentuate your height. Skinny, too long and baggy models are probably also a bad choice for you. Avoid wearing light colors; dark-blue models will suit you much better. If you want to by worn jeans, prefer those models where worn elements are not very evident and are situated right in the middle - this effect makes legs visually longer. And don't forget about high heels!

Those who have tight thighs and flat buttocks should wear hipsters - low or high-waisted. Light-colored models are recommended. They would not attract additional attention to buttocks and thighs but visually make them more voluptuous. Stretch jeans models with a stitching in a heart form situated on the buttocks will visually make them more voluptuous and lift them a bit. Another good variant is jeans model without back pockets and with a lacing in the front. Skinny jeans covering ankles or ruffled at the bottom will visually make your thighs well-formed.

Those who don't have a strongly marked waist should choose relaxed cut jeans models with straight trouser legs. Such jeans will visually make your waist look slimmer. The best way for you is to buy jeans several times bigger in size, because small-sized jeans could be too tight for you in the waist part. Hipsters will visually balance the proportions. And try to put on men's jeans models - they might fit you as well because they just have different proportions compared to women's wear.

If you happen to have full thighs you should choose relaxed cut jeans made from solid denim with straight trouser legs and a low waistline. High-waisted jeans will do as well. The basic color for you is dark blue. And pay special attention to back pockets! The most suitable custom jeans models have big back pockets covering the buttocks and deflecting attention away from your thighs. Avoid wearing light colors as well as figure-fitting stretch jeans models. Short-cut or tight at the bottom jeans as well as jeans with too small and separated back pockets are definitely not for you to wear. Such jeans models will make you look even more plumpy.

In case you have a rotund figure, wear custom tailored jeans with a relaxed cut and straight trouser legs. Avoid wearing too baggy jeans, because they bunker as well. You should prefer dark colors, because they usually have a slimming effect, help to conceal all imperfections and make you visually gracile. The denim your jeans are manufactured from should have a soft structure. Remember - seams inside trouser legs make you look slimmer, and seams on the outside have a contrary effect. Extra-long jeans coming down to the floor will visually make your legs look longer and your figure slimmer as well. High-waisted jeans with corsage will conceal your belly.
