Jeans! I'm sure we've all got at least one pair and most people quite a few. Whether you're a woman, a man, a boy or a girl there's a pair of jeans in your wardrobe I'm sure.
Jeans actually date back to the 18th century and was adopted as the choice trousers by workers due to the strong hard wearing material. In 1853 the most famous name in denim still today started out his jeans business Leob Strauss, who later changed his name to Levi.
It wasn't until the 1930s that jeans became popular when the cowboys started wearing them and they appeared in all the western films. As every decade passed jeans became an ever more popular item of clothing and by the 1980s they were the most fashionable trouser around and everyone was seen to be wearing jeans as every day clothes.
Various cuts of jeans are available whether it be slim leg, loose fit, straight leg, skinny fit, bootcut the list is endless and so is the types of denim, washed denim, raw denim, selvage denim, bleached denim, sand blasted denim again we could go on.
With the growing popularity of denim jeans various brands have come along over the years some not for long and some still around today. Obviously some people prefer one brand to the other and vice versa. With so much choice around today in the jeans market its difficult to chose. Nudie Jeans are one of the denim brands to be seen in these days. Nudie are a relatively new jean brand and were founded in Sweden in 1999 by Maria Erixsson who had previously worked for Lee jeans and in just 4 years there were 12 employees. Nudie Jeans came to the UK about 2004 and didn't take long for them to become the cool jeans for trendy brits.
Nudie make various fits including Regular Ralf, Average Joe, Slim Jim, Thin Finn, Easy Emil, Big Bengt all these names related to a fit whether it be skinny fit, loose fit, slim leg, straight leg you name the fit Nudie have a name for it. All Nudie Jeans come in various waist sizes and leg lengths.
Many of the worlds denim-heads favour Nudie Jeans and their selvage denim jeans will be their pride and joy. These enthusiasts don't just have one or two pairs of jeans they will have 10s and some hundreds of pairs. Most of these wont wash their jeans as they wear in much better when not washed, they mould to you and the denim stays in its more original condition. There are a few myths about keeping jeans fresh without washing them, one of them being put the jeans in the freezer for a few hours. I think just a quick iron and peg the on washing line gets some of the smell out the denim.
